Montana Health Careers Summer Camp

U-DOC Students

Montana Health Careers Summer Camp (formerly known as U-DOC) is a two-week high school summer enrichment program for students interested in the health professions. This year's camp will be held at Montana State University June 15-27.

Who should apply?

Bright, motivated, intellectually curious, mature and responsible high school juniors and seniors interested in attending college. This camp is designed to provide opportunities not normally available to students from under-represented minorities; from economically disadvantaged homes; from rural area; and/or from a family in which neither parent is a college graduate. Students who meet any of these criteria are particularly encouraged to apply.

Goal of Montana Health Careers Summer Camp

To foster, affirm and encourage high school students’ interest in health careers by outlining a path to higher education by exposure to health careers through job shadowing, and by providing a valuable introduction to college life.

Students spend time in the classroom and laboratory studying Anatomy and Physiology, Psychology, Nutrition, and creative and scientific writing. Presentations by community physicians, public health experts, allied health professionals, and individuals working in environmental and international health give students a broad look at opportunities in the health care field.

Representatives from many aspects of the health professions, including nursing, various medical specialties, dentistry, pharmacy, and veterinary medicine serve as volunteer preceptors to offer students experience in the clinical setting.

Cost to attend Montana Health Careers Summer Camp

Participation in Montana Health Careers Summer Camp is free.  Students receive room, board, a small stipend to cover incidentals, and travel assistance.
