About Our Region

Eastern regional map

Eastern MT AHEC provides services across a 12-county region, with the largest being Yellowstone County.  More than 200 students each year gain healthcare experience through our office. We welcome students who are interested in getting more in-depth experience in various real-world settings, such as urban and rural community health clinics and health departments that provide healthcare to rural and underserved populations.  We also offer programs and trainings that include geriatric education, community health worker trainings such as Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB), X-Ray permit certification, college student shadowing opportunities, and multiple healthcare-centered camps for high school students across the state.

Host Organization

MHA logo Eastern Montana AHEC is hosted by Riverstone Health. RiverStone Health was established in 2008 as a single identity and umbrella organization to encompass a comprehensive range of health services. The organization grew out of the Yellowstone City-County Health Department, which began providing public health services to the region in 1974. Operating as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), it provides essential medical, dental, and behavioral healthcare to the community. With a mission to improve life, health, and safety, RiverStone Health actively engages in community health initiatives and concerns. This approach combines the strength of government with the power of vision in an entrepreneurial model designed to transform the traditional understanding of public health.
