Colorado Center for Nursing Excellence (CNE) is an important partner for our region's clinical faculty & preceptor academy. They are an organization that is transforming healthcare by focusing on nursing workforce innovation at both the system and state level. Based in Colorado, CNE is working to alleviate similar nursing workforce shortages that other states in our region (MT, ND, SD, UT, WY) are also facing. 

The Clinical Scholars Workshop developed and hosted by CNE is for clinical faculty who want to be well-prepared to teach the next generation of nurses.

Through our regional CFPA, clinical nursing faculty and current nursing preceptors can register to take the Clinical Scholars Workshop at no cost. You also are eligible to earn a $700 stipend upon completion of the course. This funding is limited to participants from MT, WY, CO, ND, SD, and UT. 

Stipends are paid after completing all grant documentation/data requirements, the weeklong course, and participation in the three follow-up hour-long coaching integration sessions.

There are limited grant-funded spots in each workshop cohort, but this workshop is held three times each year to give as many folks the opportunity to participate through CFPA as possible!

About CNE Clinical Scholars

A 40-hour weeklong workshop provides nursing faculty and clinical instructors with the tools necessary to teach students in clinical settings. Attendees will leave the program with a better understanding of mentoring and instructing student nurses.

Who should attend?

Participants range from staff nurses to clinical educators and new nursing faculty. CNE recommends individuals enrolling in the Clinical Scholars Workshop have a BSN or higher, though not required for participation. For more details on the Clinical Scholars Workshop, visit the workshop webpage.

Important registration info:

  • When registering please be sure to indicate you are participating through CFPA, and the state in which you reside. 
  • Upon registering for the Clinical Scholars Workshop, you will receive a follow-up email with from your state's liaison. Please reply to their email so that they can confirm your seat in the course.
  • Please be sure to read through the workshop requirements so you understand fully what is expected as a CFPA participant.
