Universal Newborn Home Visiting and Cradle to Career Issues/Next Steps:
- Groundwork has already been laid in effort to offer this service
- Hospital aware and supportive
- Agreed to use online referral system
- Documentation plan created
- Current plan: PH will make phone call to all newborn families and do general needs assessment. Waiting on hospital policy changes to start this
- Capacity (staff) to call is in place, but need money to provide face to face visit
- Need to work with Medicaid to learn how to bill for ACA covered services and more language in policy to allow for billing for breastfeeding services. Possible United Way accelerator campaign.
- Implementation of service, creation of evaluation plan, possible evaluation plan – hospital readmission – rates, completed referrals
- Next Steps: Check on PKY program in Livingston (including funding) – Brie talk to Aaron regarding Medicaid/Lactation reimbursement

- Approach hospitals/insurers through larger frame of “housing” not just “manufactured housing”
- Identify costs – need for data to allow us to work better/more efficiently. Not so you (hospital/insurer) can pay us for this work.
