1. Become a Montana AHEC Scholar

  • Traditional Nursing Students are eligible to apply at the beginning of their T1 semester.
  • Accelerated Nursing Students are eligible to apply at the beginning of their program (A1 semester).
AHEC Scholars Program

 

The current application cycle is open for nursing students.

You will receive an email from Mandy Hedstrom confirming your acceptance and explaining how to start your Scholar Didactic Education. 

2. Begin Didactic Education

Upon acceptance into the Montana AHEC Scholars Program, you may begin working toward your supplemental education hours.  There are various options (both for-credit and non-credit) to complete this requirement.

Traditional Nursing Students: 

  • You must complete 40 hours of the didactic education in Year 1 and an additional 40 hours in Year 2 after enrollment.  You will need to complete a total of 80 hours in order to receive a certificate.

Accelerated Nursing Students: 

  • You must complete 20 hours of the didactic education by December 31; and an additional 20 hours by July 31.  You will need to complete a total of 40 hours in order to receive a certificate. 

Once admitted into the track, you will gain access to an online learning management system but in the meantime, check out a sneak preview of the ways in which you can complete the 80 (40 for Accelerated students) hours of supplemental education.

3. Rural Clinical Rotations

As a MSU CON Mobile Health Training Program Student, you will have priority placement with trained preceptors in rural healthcare facilties and mobile clinics.  You also will be eligible for travel reimbursements to your rural clinical sites.

4. Graduate

You will receive your Montana AHEC Scholars Certificate and distinguished Mobile Health Training Program cords at graduation if you have completed all 80 (40 for Accelerated students) hours of the didactic education.
